Troop 224 Honor Roll
Celebrating the lasting legacy of leadership, service, and dedication within Sherwood BSA Troop 224. Here we proudly recognize our Eagle Scouts, their transformative community service projects, past Scoutmasters and Committee Chairs, and the dedicated adult volunteers who have served our troop committee for five years or more.
Our Eagles Scouts in the Community
Eagle Scout projects are a chance for Scouts to turn leadership into action. From planning and organizing to serving others and making a lasting impact in our community, each project represents the dedication, growth, and leadership of a Scout on their journey to Eagle.
Eagles & Scoutmasters
Scouting is built on the example of those who came before us. Our Honor Roll recognizes the Scouts who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and the Scoutmasters who have dedicated their time and leadership to guiding generations of Scouts. These names represent years of hard work, service, mentorship, and commitment to the values of Scouting. We are proud to recognize their accomplishments and the lasting impact they have made on Troop 224.

From the Coast to the Valley: Our Hidden History
A Legacy That Began on the Oregon Coast
If you look closely at Troop 224’s historical Eagle Scout roster, you may notice something fascinating: a legendary group of young men—beginning with Morton Myers in 1932, followed by Rodney Jones, Davis King, Keith Leamon, Merle Johnson, and Glen Barber in the 1940s.
These early Eagle Scouts were members of Troop 224 in Tillamook, Oregon, where the troop was originally chartered along the Oregon coast.
Morton Myers earned his Eagle Scout rank in 1932, during the hardships of the Great Depression. He went on to become a lifelong civic leader in Tillamook, serving as the Tillamook County Assessor. His story is an early example of the connection between Scouting, service, and leadership that remains part of Troop 224’s legacy today.
The scouts who followed him earned their Eagle ranks during the 1940s, a period marked by World War II and the challenges of its aftermath. Their accomplishments represent an important early chapter in the history of Troop 224.
From Tillamook to Sherwood
When the original coastal unit deactivated around 1950, the Cascade Pacific Council returned the number 224 to its pool of available unit numbers.
In 1951, a new chartering organization in Sherwood, Oregon, adopted the number, beginning a new chapter for Troop 224.
Because the Sherwood troop started with a new generation of younger scouts, it naturally took several years to develop a pipeline of older youth ready to reach Eagle Scout. This helps explain the quiet period in the Eagle roster between the late 1940s and the mid-1960s, when the Sherwood Eagle tradition began to emerge.
One Number. Two Communities. One Legacy.
Troop 224's story spans generations and communities—from the Tillamook coast to the Sherwood valley.
While the original coastal troop and the later Sherwood troop were separate chapters, they share something important: the number 224.
Today, we are proud to carry that number forward and honor the scouts who came before us. From Morton Myers in 1932 to the generations of Eagle Scouts who followed, their legacy is part of the history we continue to build today.
